ACCUMULATOR BOTTLES
IT IS USED TO FACILITATE THE OPERATION OF A BOP IN CASE OF POWER FAILURE AND ALSO TO REDUCE THE CLOSING TIME OF BOP BY STORING THE PRESSURIZED HYDRAULIC FLUID IN IT.
THE HYDRAULIC BOTTLES ARE ARRANGED IN MULTIPLE ROWS,DEPENDING UPON THE FLUID REQUIRED TO OPERATE HCR VALVES AND OPERATES BOP ON THE BOP STOCKS.TO ISOLATE ACCUMULATOR BOTTLES IN A ROW ISOLATION VALVES IS USED AND TO SERVICE THE BOTTLE BLEEDER VALVE IS USED.EACH ROW CONSIST OF AN ISOLATION VALVE AND BLEEDER VALVE.ACCUMULATOR BOTTLES IS PRE-CHARGED WITH THE HELP OF NITROGEN.ACCUMULATOR BOTTLE CONSIST OF SCHRADER VALVE AT IT TOP TO PRE-CHARGE AND DISCHARGE THE PRESSURE OF NITROGEN.IN A 3000 psi SYSTEM THE PRESSURE OF NITROGEN SHOULD BE AT 1000 psi.IF THERE ARISE A CONDITION OF MORE PRESSURE REQUIRED TO PERFORM SHEARING ACTION ACCUMULATOR BOTTLE IS DIPATCHED AND AIR PUMPS IS DIRECTLY CONNECTED.
RESERVOIR TANK
RESERVOIR TANK IS USED TO STORE THE HYDRAULIC FLUID FOR CONTROLLING THE ACTIONS PERFORMED IN BOP.THE TANK IS DESIGNED IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE CAPACITY OF RESERVOIR TANK SHOULD BE ONE INCH BELOW THE INSPECTION PORT WHEN THE SYSTEM IS NOT PRESSURIZED AND THE LEVEL OF TANK SHOULD BE 1” ABOVE SUCTION VALVES OF THE PUMP, WHEN IT IS CHARGED AT 3000 psi PRESSURE.
CHARGING SYSTEM
CHARGING SYSTEM OF BOP CONTROL UNIT IS USED TO THE ACCUMULATOR BOTTLES.IT CONSIST OF ONE ELECTRIC PUMP AND ATLEAST THREE AIR PUMPS.SIZE OF THE PUMP DEPEND UPON THE VOLUME REQUIRED TO PUMP INTO ACCUMULATOR BOTTLE.PUMP SHOULD CHARGE THE ACCUMULATOR BOTTLE WITH IN 15 MINUTES.BEFORE PERFORMING VISUAL INSPECTION ENSURE POWER TO THE ELECTRIC PUMP AND AIR SUPPLY TO THE AIR PUMP IS TURNED OFF.
A HYDRO- ELECTRIC SWITCH IS CONNECTED TO ELECTRIC PUMP WHICH HELPS TO START THE PUMP AUTOMATICALLY WHEN THE PRESSURE IS DROP DOWN TO 90% OF UNIT RATE WORKING PRESSURE AND ALSO STOPS THE PUMP WHEN RATED WORKING PRESSURE IS ATTAINED.A HYDRO-PNEUMATIC SWITCH IS CONNECTED TO THE AIR LINE WHICH SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY, WHEN DESIRED PRESSURE OF THE ACCUMULATOR BOTTLE IS REACHED.
PRESSURE REGULATING VALVE
PRESSURE REGULATING VALVE OF BOP CONTROL UNIT IS USED TO REGULATE THE PRESSURE.IT CONSIST OF TWO REGULATORS ONE IS MANIFOLD REGULATOR AND OTHER IS ANNULAR REGULATOR.MANIFOLD PRESSURE REGULATOR IS USED TO FUNCTIONS ALL OTHER UNITS EXCLUDING THE ANNULAR PREVENTER IN THE BOP STACK.THE DOWN PORTION OF MANIFOLD REGULATOR IS CONNECTED TO BY PASS VALVE.IT REGULATES ACCUMULATOR PRESSURE FROM 0 TO 1500 psi,SOME SYSTEM USE PRESSURE UPTO 3000 psi.THE OTHER PRESSURE REGULATING VALVE IS USED TO CONTROL THE FUNCTION OF ANNULAR PREVENTER.ANNULAR REGULATORS ARE AGAIN CLASSIFIED INTO TWO MANUAL REGULATOR WITH AIR MOTORS AND AIR OPERATED REGULATORS.
OPERATING MANIFOLD
THE OPERATING MANIFOLD OF BOP CONTROL UNIT CONSIT OF MANY 3-POSITION 4-WAY SELECTOR VALVES OR MANIPULATOR, BY- PASS VALVE WITH HIGH AND LOW PRESSURE SELECTION AND THREE PRESSURE GAUGES FOR CONTROLLING MANIFOLD PRESSURE, ACCUMULATOR PRESSURE AND ANNULAR PRESSURE.MANIFOLD GET REGULATED SUPPLY WHEN LOW PRESSURE IS SELECTED AND MANIFOLD GETS FULL ACCUMULATOR SUPPLY (i.e. 3000 psi) WHEN HIGH PRESSURE IS SELECTED.THE VALVES OF BLIND RAM OR SHEAR RAM IS PROTECTED SO AS TO AVOID IT’S OPERATING BY MISTAKE.
PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE
THE OVERCHARGING OF ACCUMULATOR BOTTLE IS AVOIDED BY USING PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE.THESE VALVE ARE DESIGNED AS SPRING LOADED TYPE AND VENT HYDRAULIC FLUID BACK TO RESERVOIR TANK, AT THE TIME WHEN THE PUMP PRESSURE SWITCH FAILS TO STOP THE PUMP.
PNEUMATIC PRESSURE TRANSDUCERS/TRANSMITTERS
BOP CONTROL CONSISIT OF 3 PNEUMATIC PRESSURE TRANSMITTER ONE FOR ANNULAR ,SECOND FOR ACCUMULATOR AND OTHER MANIFOLD.THE MAIN FUNCTION OF TRANSMITTERE IS TO CONVERT HYDRAULIC PRESSURE INTO AIR PRESSURE AND SENDS THIS REGULATED AIR TO THE CORRESPONDING AIR RECEIVE GAUGES.
AIR JUNCTION BOXES AND CONTROL LINES
THE BOP UNIT CONSIST OF TWO AIR JUNCTION BOXES FOR CONTROLLING BOP STACK AT THE TIME OF EMERGENCY.ONE AIR JUNCTION BOX IS PLACED ON RIG FLOOR AND OTHER IS PLACED NEARER TO THE TOOL PUSHER OFFICE,TO CLOSE THE BOP FROM THERE IS THERE ANY EMERGENCY SITUATION ARISES.THE CONTROL LINES ARE INTER CONNECTED LINES BETWEEN BOP UNIT AND BOP FOR CARRYING HYDRAULIC FLUID FOR THE SMOOTH WORKING OF BOP.
