HVAC : AIR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM

Central air conditioning systems use an air distribution system in order to circulate heated or cooled air to all the rooms to be air conditioned in a building. Properly designed duct systems can attain and maintain uniform temperatures and can maintain proper air velocity throughout the house, efficiently and effectively.
Air-distribution systems in a central air conditioning system include air handlers, ductwork, and associated components like vav box, diffuser or grilles, plenum boxes, etc. for heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning buildings. Their many components need to operate together to properly maintain desired conditions according to the human comfort level. They use relatively large amounts of energy so applying smart operational technics and good maintenance strategies can significantly reduce energy consumption.

TYPES OF JETS

We should have a clear idea about various types of jets used which will be very much informative for the selection and location of different types of supply outlets.

ISOTHERMAL JET

The figure shows an axial jet of air exiting from an outlet with an air temperature equal to that of surrounding air temperature.

NON ISOTHERMAL JET

COMPARISONS
  1. There is some difference between isothermal and non isothermal jet.
  2. There is difference in temperature for cooling and heating between the air sent and space and so is the density of the air.
  3. The density of cold air is high compared to that of hot air.
